About This Spot

Fratello's Italian Tavern settles into the Charleston neighborhood like a beloved friend’s home—warm, inviting, and just lively enough to buzz with easy conversation. Stepping inside, you’re embraced by an atmosphere that feels both relaxed and thoughtfully crafted, where the clink of glasses and soft hum of chatter blend naturally with the aromas of rich, comforting Italian fare coming from the kitchen.

The pace here is unhurried but lively—a place where tables gather families, longtime locals, and visitors who’ve caught onto a cherished secret. The friendly staff move with genuine warmth, making you feel more like a guest than a customer, whether it’s a weekday evening when the tavern hums with quiet satisfaction or a weekend where reservation anticipation fills the air.

Dining here is about savoring familiar Italian flavors with a touch of homegrown generosity. Plates arrive meticulously prepared yet unpretentious, like the kind of meal you’d wish to linger over—creamy sauces that cling lovingly to pasta, tender cuts of veal mingling with vibrant risottos, and desserts that offer a delicate, sweet finish without fuss. The bread, fresh and warm, starts the experience as a simple invitation to slow down and enjoy the moment.

Whether you’re pulling up a seat after a long day or celebrating something special, Fratello’s strikes a balance between casual comfort and culinary intention. Here, meals are generous in portion and spirit, served with hospitality that feels personal and sincere. It’s the sort of place where laughter is easy, connections form over shared dishes, and the memory of the meal stays as warm as the setting itself.

I enjoyed a weekday meal mid evening on a whim. I enjoyed the meal so much that I returned the next day for lunch to verify the taste was consistent. I was not disappointed. Being in town for a reunion, I thought this location was perfect for my small band of merry men, and the staff cautioned that reservations are best if you plan to visit on the weekend. I would add that the sausage and pasta dish that I enjoyed was not listed on the pull down menu of favorites so I cannot recall what the dish was called. My only regret is that I didn't return for a third visit to try the lasagna. The locals tell me it is worth the trip.

ALL the staff were very nice and SO friendly they made us feel like family! The food prepared by chef Kevin was outstanding and the portion size was generous!! Our server Nicole was very helpful with the gluten-free recommendations. She was friendly, knowledgeable and didn't hover over us yet, was there whenever we needed a drink refil, to pick up extra dishes or to just check-in to see if there was anything we needed. Chef Kevin visited our table and made us feel so welcome. The atmosphere is casual, cozy and relaxed. The lasagna was excellent and very filling. We also recommend the Fra Diavalo di Marc and the Shrimp a la Romano Pomodoro.

We had an amazing experience at this Italian restaurant! We ordered the Grilled Chicken Alfredo and the Grilled Shrimp Alfredo, and both were absolutely delicious—creamy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The complementary bread was fresh, warm, and a perfect start to the meal. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. We’ll definitely be coming back!

As you can tell from my reviews I don't do it very often. Essentially comes down to either really great or really terrible. I can tell you these guys definitely crush the really great! Service was excellent and food didn't disappoint! Really enjoyed my meal and will definitely be back. If you like some good Italian food with huge portions, this is your place

Birthday dinner for my wife. We had an amazing meal. Our server was excellent. We've never left this place hungry and plan to visit again soon. Fyi: reservation is required.

Cozy, leisurely luncheon on a rainy day to celebrate a birthday. Four of us shared the appetizer platter. The pasta special was delicious.

Wow, bloody wow… Stumbled into this place yesterday during rockabillaque. What an amazing experience. The food is incredible. Had this roasted chicken dish that was a cross between Greek & Italian that had so many ingredients in it. Absolutely delicious. The service was top notch. They treat you like family here. Loved the vibe and atmosphere. Always love it when I leave a restaurant with a circus in my mouth. 3 Thumbs up and 5 stars from the Mrs. & I.

We stopped by Fratellos Italian Tavern for lunch and had an excellent experience! We started with the calamari, which was perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside and tender inside. For our main dishes, we had the Pollo alla Parmigiana and the Pollo con Pepe sandwiches. Both were outstanding! The bread was fresh and had just the right amount of crunch, while the chicken was crispy and well-seasoned. The toppings were flavorful and balanced everything beautifully. The service was friendly and attentive, and the outdoor atmosphere was warm and sunny. We’ll definitely be back to try more of their lunch entrees.
